McDonald bowls to Steyn .. wrapped on the pads , given LBW... Australian Team start to celebrate .. the crowd starts to celebrate ..
But hey wait... its not over yet...!!
The camera's focus Graeme smith who walks out to the park as No 11. The celebrating crowd slowly realize .. and impromptu give a standing ovation..(quite unlikely Australian!!)
Just the commitment of the man bowls me over. Such a commitment deserved him and his team the draw , however Mitchell Johnson bowled a scorching inswinger which smith himself acknowledged that he would have got out even if the had been 100 percent fit.
The trait that attracts me in every person is the commitment he or she shows towards his or her work .I do not mind if he or she is talented or not . I do not mind if he or she is efficient or not. All I care is about the commitment that person possesses.
Then that person is a sure winner.
I could see the excruciating pain in his fingers when he blocked a well directed yorker from Mitchell Johnson . This will go down in Cricket history as one of the bravest feat on par with kumble's broken jaw heroics against the Windies.
Another point worth mentioning is the fact that commitment need not be so expressive as the cases above. Brett Lee bowled with a broken foot during the Melbourne test match for which the media attention was not much. Sachin Tendulkar celebrates each wicket on the field as if it is his first match. To go day in and day out and perform for two decades is something that is unbelievable and unachievable without Commitment.Add to that he is playing first class cricket for his team Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy !!
Youngsters need to emulate persons such as Graeme Smith , Sachin Tendulkar..
Even though South Africa lost by only 10 balls the winner was Graeme Smith .
Hail Smith! Hail People with commitment !
